Speaking on the launch, Mr. Vivek Srivatsa, Chief Commercial Officer, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd., said, “The Altroz has consistently set benchmarks in the premium hatchback segment through its strong focus on design, safety and powertrain choice. CNG is the fastest growing fuel choice in the country, with 19% penetration in FY25 and 22% in FY26 and this growth is no longer limited to traditional markets, with new regions contributing significantly to adoption. With the introduction of AMT in the iCNG line-up, we are addressing a clear and growing customer need for greater convenience in CNG vehicles. This addition makes Altroz the most versatile and premium offering in its segment delivering the right balance of efficiency, ease of driving and everyday practicality, without compromising on space or safety."
Powered by the 1.2L Revotron iCNG engine, the Altroz delivers 73.5 PS and 103 Nm in CNG mode, now paired with an AMT for the first time. This addition enhances everyday drivability, offering a more relaxed and convenient driving experience, especially in urban conditions. At the core of the iCNG technology is a single advanced ECU, enabling a smooth and seamless transition between petrol and CNG modes. Combined with first-in-segment Direct Start in CNG mode, the system enhances convenience while ensuring consistent performance across varied driving conditions, including inclines and long-distance travel. The Altroz continues to stand apart with TMPVs twin-cylinder iCNG technology, which intelligently places the cylinders below the luggage area. This ensures a usable 210-litre boot space in CNG mode eliminating a key compromise typically associated with CNG vehicles while petrol and diesel variants offer 345 liters of boot space.
The Altroz iCNG AMT carries forward the premium design language of the All-New Altroz, featuring flush door handles, infinity connected LED tail lamps, and sleek LED headlamps with DRLs. Inside, the cabin is designed to elevate comfort and in-car experience, with executive lounge-style rear seats, a soft-touch Grand Prestigia dashboard, and Ultra View 26.03 cm twin digital screens for instrumentation and infotainment by HARMAN. Ambient lighting and a spacious layout further enhance the overall sense of premiumness.
Built on the ALFA architecture with ultra-high-strength steel, the Altroz remains India’s safest hatchback with a 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating across petrol, diesel, and CNG powertrains. It comes equipped with 6 airbags, ESP, ISOFIX, and reverse parking sensors as standard, along with advanced features such as a 360-degree HD surround view system, tyre pressure monitoring system, auto headlamps, and LED fog lamps.
Since its launch, the Tata Altroz has played a defining role in shaping the premium hatchback segment, with a strong focus on design, safety, and innovation. It was the first and the only hatchback in its segment in India to achieve a 5-star Global NCAP safety rating in 2020 and continues to hold a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating since 2025. The Altroz also remains the only hatchback in India to offer a diesel powertrain and was the first in its segment to introduce the innovative iCNG - twin-cylinder CNG technology. With the addition of AMT to the iCNG line-up, Altroz now offers one of the most comprehensive combinations of powertrains and transmissions in the segment.
